Symptoms

Abdominal pain

Everyone experiences tummy aches from time to time – but if your abdominal pain is persistent, recurrent or interfering with daily life, it may be linked to a bowel problem.

Bloating

If you’re feeling uncomfortably full, gassy, or swollen after eating, you’re not alone. Bloating is one of the most common bowel symptoms people experience – and while it’s often harmless, persistent or severe bloating can be a sign that something’s not quite right.

Constipation

Constipation is a common problem that affects people of all ages – but that doesn’t mean you have to live with it. Whether it’s a new issue or something you’ve been managing for a while, we can help you get to the root of the problem and find relief.

Fatigue

Feeling constantly tired, drained, or low in energy? Fatigue can be more than just a busy lifestyle catching up with you – it can also be a sign that something is going on in your gut. If you’re always running on empty, it’s time to find out why.

Mucus in stool

If you’ve noticed mucus in your stool or when wiping after a bowel movement, you might be feeling unsure or concerned. While small amounts of mucus in the stool can be completely normal, visible mucus or mucus alongside other bowel symptoms can sometimes be a sign of an underlying condition.

Persistent anal itching (pruritus ani)

If you’re constantly needing to scratch your bottom, especially at night, you’re not alone. Persistent anal itching, known medically as pruritus ani, is a common but frustrating condition. We help patients understand what’s causing the irritation – and offer effective, lasting solutions.

Anaemia

Are you feeling tired all the time? Breathless after mild activity? Struggling to concentrate or stay warm? These may all be signs of a common condition called anaemia.

Blood in stool (rectal bleeding)

Noticing blood in your stool or on the toilet paper can be alarming. While it’s often caused by minor issues such as piles, it can also be a sign of something more serious and is important to get checked, especially if the bleeding continues.

Diarrhoea

We understand how uncomfortable and disruptive diarrhoea can be. If you’ve been experiencing frequent, loose or watery bowel movements, especially if it’s lasted more than a few days, it’s important to get it checked by a specialist.

Loss of appetite

Losing interest in food or feeling full too quickly can sometimes be brushed off as stress or a minor issue. But if your appetite has changed for no clear reason, especially when combined with bowel symptoms or weight loss, it’s important to get it checked.

Nausea and vomiting

Feeling sick or vomiting is never pleasant – but if it’s happening regularly, or alongside changes in your bowel habits, it could be a sign that something deeper is going on in your digestive system. We help patients understand the causes of nausea and vomiting, especially when linked to bowel disorders.

Tenesmus (feeling of incomplete bowel emptying)

Ever leave the toilet feeling like you haven’t quite finished? If you often feel as though you still need to empty your bowels – even after just going – you could be experiencing a symptom called tenesmus. We are here to help you get answers, rule out anything serious, and feel more in control of your bowel health.

Anal pain or discomfort

Throbbing, sharp, burning or itchy  pain is not always easy to talk about and iss more common than you might think. Our sensitive, expert care will help get to the bottom of the problem.

Changes in stool appearance

Noticing that your poo looks different can be unsettling – but it’s an important sign that your body might be trying to tell you something. If something doesn’t look right, it’s worth speaking to our expert team and getting checked.

Excessive wind and gurgling (bloating, gas and bowel noise)

Passing more wind than usual? Feeling gassy, bloated or embarrassed by stomach noises? Persistent or excessive symptoms can affect your comfort and confidence.

Loss of bowel control

Losing control of your bowels or struggling to reach the toilet in time (faecal incontinence and urgency) can be distressing and deeply personal – but you’re not alone, and it’s more common than many people realise.

Painful bowel movements

If you’re experiencing pain when going to the toilet, you’re not alone. Painful bowel movements are a common issue and often linked to minor conditions like piles or fissures, but they can also point to something more serious. We offer discreet, expert care to find the cause of your discomfort and help you feel better.

Unexplained weight loss

Losing weight without trying might sound like a good thing – but if you haven’t made any changes to your diet or activity levels, it could be a sign that something isn’t right. We help patients like you get to the bottom of unexplained weight loss, particularly when it’s linked to changes in bowel habits or other digestive symptoms.
